What is the difference between jetting and snaking a line?
A snake, or cable, punches a hole through the middle of a clog so water flows again for a while. Jetting uses high-pressure water to scour grease off the entire pipe wall, so the full diameter of the line opens back up. For grease, jetting lasts a lot longer because it removes the buildup instead of just breaking it.
How do I know my lines need jetting and not just the trap?
Slow drains at the sinks, gurgling, or odor that comes back a week after a pump-out usually point to the lines, not the trap. When we pump we can tell whether the backup is in the tank or upstream in the pipe and recommend jetting only if the line actually needs it.
Can you jet the lines while you pump the trap?
Yes, and it is often the efficient way to do it. We can pump the trap and jet the kitchen lines on the same visit so the whole system drains clean instead of dealing with each problem on a separate trip.
